HKABA Chapter Reorganizes and Charts a Path Forward
Introduction
The Hong Kong Association for Behavior Analysis (HKABA) has faced challenges during the pandemic years of COVID-19, leading to a period of inactivity. However, the chapter has recently taken significant steps towards reorganizing and revitalizing itself. A dedicated group of about 10 professionals, consisting of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and BCBA-Doctoral (BCBA-D) practitioners, has reconvened to discuss the future directions and activities of HKABA. This article provides a summary of the recent developments within the chapter, including the resignation of the past president, ongoing efforts to fill various roles, and the formulation of a development plan for 2024.
Inactive Years During the Pandemic
Like many organizations worldwide, HKABA faced disruptions and challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. The safety measures and restrictions necessitated by the global health crisis resulted in a temporary halt to chapter activities. However, with the situation gradually improving, HKABA recognized the need to revive its operations and continue its mission of promoting behavior analysis in Hong Kong.
Reorganizing and Resuming Activities
In a positive turn of events, a group of us comprising both BCBA and BCBA-D practitioners, has taken the initiative to rekindle the chapter’s activities. These individuals, with their extensive experience and expertise in behavior analysis, have resumed regular meetings to discuss the future of HKABA.
Change in Leadership
It is important to note that during this reorganization process, the past president of HKABA has stepped down from their position. The resignation of the past president opens up opportunities for new leadership to emerge and guide HKABA in its next phase.
Defining Roles and Responsibilities
As part of the ongoing reorganization, HKABA is currently in the process of filling various roles to support its operations effectively. Identifying suitable individuals who can contribute to the chapter’s objectives is crucial in ensuring a well-rounded team. By allocating responsibilities and tasks to dedicated members, HKABA aims to enhance its organizational structure and streamline its activities.
Formulating a Development Plan for 2024
To ensure a clear and focused path forward, HKABA is actively working on formulating a comprehensive development plan for 2024. This plan will outline the chapter’s goals, strategies, and initiatives for the coming year. By setting specific objectives and outlining actionable steps, HKABA aims to maximize its impact on behavior analysis in Hong Kong and further strengthen the profession.
Conclusion
The Hong Kong Association for Behavior Analysis (HKABA) is undergoing a reorganization and revitalization process after a period of inactivity during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the dedication and expertise of our BCBA and BCBA-D professionals, HKABA has resumed meetings to discuss the future directions and activities of the chapter.
