Experimental Analysis of Human Behavior

Experiment

By David J. Cox

The SIG remains focused on our three primary goals:
Promoting the experimental analysis of human behavior and basic behavioral research by encouraging student research and scholarship in EAHB, by recognizing outstanding career-long contributions to the field, and by maintaining an outlet for publishing human operant research. At the ABAI annual conference in 2023 the Distinguished Contributions Award was presented to Dr. Timothy Hackenberg, Professor of Psychology at Reed College. At the 2024 ABAI Annual Convention, the Distinguished Contributions Award will be presented to Dr. Júlio César Coelho de Rose from Universidade Federal de São Carlos. The EAHB SIG continues to increase the size of its membership (currently 281 ABA members) by i) presenting a poster at the ABA Expo, ii) by promoting the annual Distinguished Contributions Award address, and iii) increasing the visibility of the EAHB Bulletin.

The SIG continues to be led by Dr. David Cox as the SIG Chair and Dr. Catherine Williams as the Vice-Chair. Additional individuals leading the SIG include Dr. Stephanie Jimenez who serves as the SIG Treasurer, Dr. Vanessa Ayres Pereira who serves as the SIG Social Media Coordinator, and Ramon Marin who serves as the SIG Student Representative.

In the coming year, activities will include:
1. Release of a special issue of The Bulletin on “Emerging Topics from Emerging Voices” (likely June/July);
2. Collaboration with VB-SIG on a special issue of The Bulletin around “The Intersection Of Verbal Behavior And Experimental / Translational Research”;
3. Reviews of manuscripts for 2024 Bulletin regular issue release (likely December) publication of a monthly Newsletter to the SIG membership; and
4. Continuing our social media presence to promote the Experimental Analysis of Human Behavior.
