New Jersey ABA – 2025 Chapter Update
By Courtney Kenney
As we reflect on the past year, the New Jersey Association for Behavior Analysis (NJABA) is proud to share our accomplishments and our vision for the future. Our chapter remains dedicated to advancing behavior analysis, fostering a strong community, and supporting professionals in the field. This past year, NJABA was actively involved in the ABAI annual conference, where many of our members presented cutting-edge research, shared best practices, and engaged in meaningful discussions with colleagues from around the world. We are grateful to all who represented NJABA and contributed to the conference’s success.
NJABA saw a significant increase in membership, reflecting the growing interest in behavior analysis across New Jersey. To support this growth and encourage participation, we removed membership fees for students and behavior technicians, offering free membership to those early in their careers. Advocacy efforts remained a priority as we alerted our members and the broader community about critical legislative changes affecting licensure for Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) in New Jersey. We also continued to highlight and advertise loan redemption programs through the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA), helping professionals access financial support for their education.
In addition to our advocacy work, NJABA hosted a variety of professional development events. Our almost quarterly Speaker Series provided members with valuable continuing education units (CEUs) while promoting knowledge sharing within the community. We also celebrated another successful Science in Behavior Analysis conference and are excited for our fourth annual conference, which continues to grow in scope and impact. Moreover, NJABA proudly sponsored the AutismMVP Foundation, furthering our commitment to supporting initiatives that benefit individuals with autism and their families.
Building on the momentum of the past year, NJABA has ambitious plans for the future. We aim to expand our outreach efforts, provide more specialized training opportunities, and offer additional support for early-career behavior analysts. Strengthening our collaborations with other ABA chapters and organizations will remain a priority as we work to enhance resources and networking opportunities for our members.
We encourage ABAI members to consider joining NJABA. Membership offers numerous benefits, including access to exclusive events, discounted workshop rates, and opportunities to present research. Our continued focus on advocacy, professional development, and community-building makes NJABA a valuable resource for behavior analysts at all career stages. NJABA is thrilled to announce our upcoming annual conference, marking 20 years of supporting the behavior analysis community in New Jersey. This milestone event will feature esteemed pre-conference workshop speakers, influential keynote speakers, and high-level symposia and workshops. Additionally, we will continue our tradition of presenting the Distinguished Service Award to recognize behavior analysts who have made significant contributions to the field in New Jersey.
As we move forward, NJABA remains committed to advancing behavior analysis, supporting our members, and fostering a strong professional community. We look forward to another year of growth, collaboration, and meaningful contributions to the field. Thank you for being part of our journey—we are excited for what the future holds!
With gratitude and excitement, New Jersey Association for Behavior Analysis (NJABA)
