Hong Kong ABA (HKABA) has been very quiet in the last year due to the pandemic and the mandatory closing of schools here in Hong Kong. We have adapted by teaching online in in some cases, continuing to provide special instruction in a safe manner with the cancelling of all group instruction, for example.

We are also having to adjust to the BACB’s announcement from January 1, 2020, regarding the termination of certification test offerings outside of North America. Other groups such as the Qualified Applied Behavior Analysis Credentialing Board (QABA) offer certification with almost the same requirements for certification.

We have also discussed the development of a list of certificants in Hong Kong to help to educate and inform consumers about those who have certification and those who do not. This is in the spirit of the founders of the BACB such as Dr. Jerry Shook, and protection of the clients should always be a top priority in our field.
