Caribbean ABA – 2025 Chapter Update

Caribbean ABA

By Jessica Derrick and Gabrielle Torres

We are excited to bring you this update on behaviour analysis in the Caribbean!

The Caribbean Association for Behaviour Analysis is dedicated to the advancement of the discipline of behaviour analysis across the Caribbean. We remain dedicated to supporting ethical, effective and humane use of behaviour analysis across our region.

Our Board of Directors includes members who support services in the Cayman Islands, Curacao, Jamaica, St. Vincent, Barbados, Trinidad, and the Turks and Caicos Islands. Board members range from credentialed behaviour analysts to behaviour technicians/therapists and a parent of an autistic child, offering a broad range of perspectives as we navigate fulfilling our objectives in the Caribbean.

In 2024 we were proud to highlight a number of organizations that are making an impact in our communities. These organizations have seen their numbers grow, including adding more newly certified International Behavior Analysts and International Behavior Analysts. We look forward to continuing to spotlight organizations within our region, to listen and learn from members in our communities, and provide support to local change makers in 2025.

We are also bringing back more continuing education, and networking opportunities for our members and others interested in learning from and with the Caribbean. We are excited that Black Applied Behavior Analysts is holding their conference in Jamaica in September 2025 and look forward to collaborating with them, and are making plans to hold our own CABA conference soon! All these efforts are possible thanks to our board and committee members across the Caribbean.

Our committees include:

  • Membership Committee – focused on supporting our members’ needs
  • Marketing & Communications – keeping your informed of our activities
  • Training & Development – providing professional development opportunities
  • Advocacy – supporting the dissemination of our science, and supporting our region’s parents and caregivers
  • Public Policy – advocating for and providing resources to those promoting high standards of practice in our region
