Ethics and Behavior Analysis – 2025 SIG Update

The Ethics and Behavior Analysis Special Interest Group (EBASIG) of the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) was established in 2012 and, after brief hiatus for rebuilding and rebranding, has recently been reignited with new leadership, mission, and plans for the upcoming year. The renewed mission of the EBASIG is “to advance the science and practice of behavior analysis through active engagement and exploration of the ethics of behavior change across the species.” In fulfillment of this mission, the EBASIG has several exciting opportunities for anyone with a special interest in ethics of behavior change.

The EBASIG is a home base for anyone interested in ethics of behavior change as it pertains to human and/or non-human species. Members of EBASIG have a variety of interests within behavior analysis including conceptual and theoretical scholarship, teaching ethics in behavior analytic graduate programs, ethical considerations in clinical settings, animal welfare, research ethics, bioethics, and more. This diversity in membership areas of interest and expertise provides opportunities for robust and dynamic innovation and collaboration toward advancing mission of the EBASIG.

In the upcoming year we look forward to growing our membership by hosting ethics webinars with CE opportunities, updating web and social media presence, and participating in a business meeting and Expo poster at the upcoming 2026 ABAI Annual Convention in San Franciso, California.

We encourage anyone interested in the ethics of behavior change to join EBASIG and we are particularly hopeful that registered behavior technicians (RBTs), undergraduate, and graduate students, and others will become some of our newest members in the upcoming year. We look forward to an exciting year and welcome all who are interested in joining EBASIG!
